Cambridge Public School

One of the schools to have two branches in HSR layout itself is Cambridge Public School. The older campus in HSR layout was started in 2003. It started its new and larger campus in June 2009. There seems to be the oldest campus which functioned in Koramangala and later relocated to HSR.

Syllabus: ICSE, (not sure if there is option of 8th to 10th in State Board also)
Location: Cambridge Public School, (New Campus)
17th Cross, 24th Main,
HSR Layout, Sector - 1
Bangalore
Phone: 080-25723839, 25727335

CA-28,11th Cross, 28th Main,(Old Campus)
HSR Layout, Sector - 1

email: cambridgepublicschool@yahoo.co.in
Website: www.cambridgepublicschool.com/home.htm

Classes: Pre-K till Xth
Fees: The fees is about 40K for a year for primary (excluding transportation). I don't know how much is the admission, registration fees. If anyone knows, do update by leaving a comment.
Admission: For primary classes and above, there is an entrance test. You can get dates for attending the tests. Admissions start by October. For primary class, I could get exam dates even in May.

Activities: Swimming, Dancing, Horse Riding. (After school hours, after 2:30pm).
Remark: I found the school to be more academically oriented.
They have only cyclic tests every Monday and only a half-yearly and final exam. Lessons are very well revised and not much effort on the parents side. This was my neighbours opinion for their child from UKG studying in 2nd now.

Update: Admissions have started for 2010-2011. For more details , see here.

  1. The latest fee hike for 2010 I heard from my neighbour is 50K for admission and 50K fees per year.( They had enquired for LKG).

  2. How about the re-admission fees each year? Is this a practice in all B'lore shcools?

  3. I think many schools have readmission fees or else they will tell you to pay up some upfront fees for the next year. This for the school to order books or uniforms maybe. One school informed parents, this was to ensure sufficient teachers were available if there was more student strength.

  4. I had been enquiring around on Cambridge school, since this is my neighbourhood school. This is my opinion so far.
The school has been improving a lot. When the school was in the old campus, there were no cycle tests and books were sent home at the last minute after corrections. Now the evaluation pattern has been restructured. They are having tests every Friday now, in addition to half-yearly and annual exams.

Books are mostly same compared to Lawrence in the same area.Teaching depends on the teacher I should say. Some parents were telling me, coaching is excellent, so less home guidance was needed. Others had to give more inputs at home.

Swimming is followed at school. They have fair no. of competitions. Writing in the diary is not done well sometimes, so parents have to be in touch with teachers to get things resolved.

  8. Not a worthy school.School only collects maintanance and large fees amount. but does not give any facility.

  9. For the next session 2012 - 2013, The Admission fee is 75000.excluding the fee. Total will come around 1.25 lacs for the firts year. From the next year onwards it will around 50k.

  10. The school is NOT provding quality education to children for what amount they are collecting from parents. I am one of the parent where my daughter is studying 2nd standard HSR Lay out old campus. The fees are too much but the teching is not that much quality. This is not at all worthy. I suggest to all parents who want to bring their kids into this school, pls pls think twise before get into admission.

  11. Cambridge school is a pathetic schoool. Always money oriented. Absolutely no procedure wise studies. The amount of donation and fees they collect, it is not really worth it.

  12. I had high regard for this school... this school till last 2 years used to collect van fee only 10 months ..now thy have strated collecting 12 months.....offlate like all have said they are more money oriented..after shifting to new building..their fees is Exorbitant ....thy dont have playground/no games period/ they do have good teachers but u will find them for a year or two..by the time the students gets adjusted to a teacher..she is gone...wish the management of school concentrated more on all this than just money

  13. I am planning to put my son in Cambridge HSR layout. I was told about 60K as Admission Fees and the rest comes around 45K including books and Dress, Van extra. My son is pretty intelligent. So want to know if this school is good for him.

I checked with one of the student there who came, he mentioned that it was good school and the management is changing and it is getting better.

The only catch is that they were reluctant to show the class rooms with lame excuses. So anyone who can guide me if i can purse this school

  16. Hello....My daughter is studying in CPS since she had been in Pre LKG.Each year her teacher keeps changing.Too much strudy oriented plus i am not sure what they teach at school as I end up teaching her everything at home and i need to spend approx 3 hours daily after my office and her school hours. She is a bright student but i often wonder whats the purposeof paying such exhorbitant fees when i have to ultimately stretch for her studies...Want to change the school but not sure of a good school nearby....pls comment

  17. This school has no respect towards parent's feedback, infact they don't encourage any open-house/online feedback/dropbox suggestions etc. where parents can talk to principal or management to discuss improvement areas.
The principal herself is a money making machine and always talk about challenges that management faces. I don't even think she is educated enough. The benches (across all classes, I till X) are 1 ft wide, does not even fit a text book. There is no shelf below the table to even keep school bags or books, children keep bags on the floor. This is atleast the minimum a school classroom should provide. Class teachers do not take any overall feedback, they are clueless on the direction of study, only they can share how a student is doing on a particular subject and the marks, that's all.
There is no extra curricular activity, no playground. Nothing is done for promoting creativity in the form of arts and crafts, other than printing pictures from the internet as projects. Yes they have a music room full of drums, but the only serious activity happening there is during the one month of summer camp.
The school has a good swimming pool, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, I agree with the above comment. Absolutely no one who responds properly to academic queries.
After Management taken over by Pearson group total utter confusion with academics it became even more ridiculous.

These are the flaws in the school.

1.Ridiculous pattern for writing exams. For lower classes questions from text book. Nothing from c.w book.

    2. No practice at all even for 2nd language Hindi (especially difficult for children whose mother tongue not Hindi)---st away exams.

    3. 6 to 7 revision exams per day before final exam stressing out students.

    4. Pathetic behaviour from teachers( some of them behave like models.)

    5. Policing, slapping children by sports teachers.

    6. Furniture is very absurd --children cannot even keep pencil box.

    7. No response to parents, not allowed to talk, nobody will be positive to listen to parents.

Principal illtreats parents(likely that she is not educated---most of the reviews are the same)

    8. Pearson exam pattern of 2 hours for 18 sections very deep testing is ridiculous--absolutely not at the level of children

    9. No teaching from teachers except active board reading putting slides and chatting

    10. Music-nothing, art & craft nothing, communication-nil, no school day, not enough computers, swimming pool dirty water children once were afraid to enter into it.

Now Parents decide on considering the above point which are 100% true. Academically they need to do something drastically or parents will definitely revolt.

    ReplyDelete
  19. With so many difficulties mentioned above, there has to be a medium for parents to discuss about the issues whose wards are studying in the school! Can somebody come with some idea? Afterall its the hard earned money and the future of our children that's on stake!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Government should be responsible to take atleast feedback about donations and act on it. Nobody can bear the expensive donations around 75k collected and act ignorant towards parents requests. Principal is a very rude bad person in the above school it's not worth to trouble children with the above school

    ReplyDelete
  21. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS
"There is no shelf below the table to even keep school bags or books, children keep bags on the floor. This is atleast the minimum a school classroom should provide. 23. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT IS DOING? IN CLASS THEY TAKE HIGHER AGE STUDENTS THAN SUPPOSED AGE PER CLASS THAT MEANS IF A PARTICULAR CLASS AGE LIMIT IS 6 YEARS, THEY DONOT MIND TAKING CHILDREN UPTO 9 YEARS IN THE SAME FIRST CLASS. THESE STUDENTS WILL BE DOMINATING OTHER STUDENTS IN THE CLASS WHICH IS RIDICULOUS IN MY OPINION .PRINCIPAL IS AN AGENT FOR MONEY RATHER THAN ANY RESPECTFUL PERSON. WHY THEY ARE HAVING AN BLIND EYE AND DEAF EARS FOR THE PEARSON SYLLABUS? ALSO THEY CANNOT GIVE ANY DIRECTION ABOUT PEARSON. SYLLABUS EXCEPT PUTTING ALL THE BLAME ON "ICSE" SYLLABUS. WELL THERE ARE SO MANY ICSE SCHOOLS, WHICH DONOT PUT THIS MUCH PRESSURE ON CHILDREN. PRINCIPAL PROUDLY SAYS "ALL PARENTS GO TO CBSE" AND LEAVE THE SCHOOL (VERY ARROGANTLY). I FEEL MANAGEMENT AND BOARD MEMBERS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTINUING HER AND SOME BODY SHOULD GIVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT HER. MAY BE THINGS WILL IMPROVE

    ReplyDelete
  24. I totally agree with the above comments ... the school has become a commercial establishment rather than a educational establishment. Some of the teachers are worthless. They are not only inhuman, they are ignorant and idiotic. They even stoop low to beating up and man-handling students. What has the school admin got to do with that. Even a polite discussion with the admin has no outcome at all. The books are corrected shabily ... they are full of mistakes and the school never stops from fleecing parents for money on some pre-text or the other.

The school bus is another pathetic place to be in. Children are hoarded into the bus as if they were cattle. The bus monitor at times is not even an adult and treats children as per his whims and fancies. Again the school authority is DUMB about it. I wonder whether Madam Judith even has the common sense to tackle all this or is she a pet to some money making IDIOT who only cares for money. Oh the most important bit ... Pearson Group has come into the picture. I wonder for what? Ofcourse to fleece parents into making more money.

  25. let me first let u all know that the two cambridge schools r under two different managements. the one ur talking abt i believe is under the pearson group, while the other is under the AMC group. so while commenting pls specify the school bcoz it creates a bad impression abt the other school. My son is studying in AMC cambridge since Pre-KG. He is now in 1ststd nd i hv found the school quite gud. The teachers r gud nd the portions r taught so well at school that i didnt hv to sit nd teach him. Three of my frnds children r also studying there one in 8th, other in 7th, one in 5th, 4th nd UKG and all these kids r doing very well in their studies. I hv compared the fees of most of the schools around this area, nd i hv found the fees quite reasonable. Total fee for a year including van, tuition, computer, exam, sports nd maintenance for the academic year 2012-2013 came to around 53K which according to me is quite reasonable if u compare the fees charged by other schools in this area. im quite satisfied with this schoo

  26. Hi,

Can anybody let me know which CPS is managed by AMC group? Old campus or new?

Thanks for your help in advance.

    Regards,
    Raj

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Raj, I think the Cambridge School in HSR Layout was under AMC but has now come under Pearson group.
The old campus where it was situated has now become Gnana Srishti School.

  28. Now the donation has become 80k and there are many criterias for fees

    1. MAINTENANCE FEES
    2. ANNUAL FEES
    3. MONTHLY FEES

NOT INCLUDING SCHOOL FEES AND BUS FACILITY

SO IF YOU ARE JOINING YOUR KID IN NURSERY IN CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL, YOU SHOULD HAVE ATLEAST 1.5 L FOR ONE YEAR.

  29. is the current Gnana Shrusti school the AMC managed school

  30. One which is in 11th Cross is under the management of AMC. School seems to be good and we have enquired with parents of few students who study there and feedback is good.

So, we got LKG admission for our daughter.

    Fee structure is
    Adm fee - 60000
Monthly fee - 2400 per month
    Annual fee - 15000
Transportation fee is excluded and will be decided later it seems.

Gnan Shristi is not related AMC.

  33. if a parent is ready to teach ur child, put them in the school. other than tht don't expect teachers to teach them properly. just a pass time for teachers in school.even van drivers behave rudely with the kids. nobody has control over them.

  34. please anyone suggest me which school is better in both of these AMC Cambridge and Lawrance schools as i want to join my kid .

  35. I must tell to all the people who have given negative comments about Cambridge school. My elder child has passed out his tenth in CPS and joined Christ College, The education my child has acquired and the values which has been inculcated in them is excellent. My child is doing extremely good in his academics and topper in his college, the credit goes to the principal and team of teachers. My younger child also is going to the same school.I am extremely happy that my children are from CPS.My children study on their own,I do not sit with them.If my children are scoring so well it because of the teachers and the soft spoken principal who is always smiling and affectionate with the students. It is only petty minds who don't get enough time to be with their children write all rubbish.Keep doing good work and great going.

    ReplyDelete
  36. In CPS the coaching is excellent and the teachers are extremely good and very patient.Hats of to the principal who is handling the show single hand and who is good and kind to every one.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You can just close your eyes and put your child in CPS which is in sector 2.I had returned from US and didn't know where to admit my child,my colleague told me to go to CPS.After talking to the principal Judith madam who is full of love, warmth and knowledgeable told my wife to admit my child immediately. My child loves to go to school and my wife is very happy. This is the only school in Bangalore where parents can walk directly to the principal cabin, any concern it is sorted out immediately by the principal.I have recommended many of my colleagues to CPS and all are happy.Any doubts mail to raghuvaranbhat@yahoo.in.

  39. I recently got the admission form from this school...following is the fee structure...
80k is the admission fee...~9.5k annual fee, ~9.5k maintainence fee..and monthly around 3750 for 12 months....this excludes uniform, books, transport....

Is this really worth to put him there...parents please suggest the quality of the education...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes. Cambridge Public School, 11th cross, HSR layout under AMC group is deteriorating in quality teachers for last two years. Goods teachers have been leaving consistently and replaced with average teachers who lack initiative. If the parent have time to teach, then you can put your kids for sake of school. The Management is also not showing any interest in quality education except increasing fees year after year. The management is not thinking that they are playing with future of the children studying there. Past two years a lot of children have migrated to other schools and still a lot of patents are in a dilemma for shifting, but for there administrative reasons.

The Management must learn that they are socially responsible and they should ensure proper interaction with parents to attend their concerns. The school is in good location and if the management is efficient, by ensuring qualified and dedicated teachers they can build good branding and more help in nation building through kids the future India.

  44. Completely confused - few people say AMC CPS is good and few says Pearson CPS is good.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It was a good school but from last few years(after pearson's took over) it has become absolutely horrible...horrible teachers who cannot teach...notebooks corrected very irregularly...corrected without catching mistakes in notebooks..no exercises from books are done but kids are expected to answer them in ecam..worst of all no discipline at all.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Pearson CPS is terrible. Save your money. It was good earlier but after pearson took over and vice principal left...it is really done to dogs...unfortunately all negative comments are true.

  47. This is about Cambridge Public School in HSR-Sector 2 (near to HSR club). We moved from UK and got admission in Cambridge public school in HSR sector-2 for 2nd standard. We found the school stresses more on studies and no importance to other activities. Teacher to Students rations is very high. In my daughters class there were 46 students. Few teachers are very impatient and they hit students with metal ruler if they kids are mischeavous in class. Though my daughter got no hittings but she was so scared of such teachers she stopped asking them any questions in case of doubts. During admission they boasted of Swimming pool, big playground near to campus but in reality we found all these things are for show-off only. Most of the swimming classes were cancelled and even if they are carried out no swimming was taught systematically. She was taken to playground only once in whole academic year. I would say, Overall, school is not very bad from teaching perspective but they need to improved a lot in other aspects as well.

    1. Very true . Few days back a kid was beaten by a teacher that the kid's skin was about to peel off. The teacher had shown her personal & professional life frustrations to a helpless child. Are there any system to save these kids who are ill-treated in the schools ? We send children for studying, playing and learning good discipline. Average degree holders have become teachers who could not handle the syllabus. Finally the stress and blame are on parents and kids. Even animals have rights to not to be beaten. What about these kids?? The first quality of a teacher is to be patient & should be able to convey their concept to every child. Each child is different and should be handled in an appropriate way that they understand their teaching.

  48. I have put my child in 3rd std after moving from Mumbai. My kid cries to go to school everyday. Except studies there is no other extra-curricular activities. In the time-table there are games period, art & craft, music. But they were all taken by the other teachers to complete their syllabus. The child has to sit in the same place from 8:15 am - 3:00 pm. Even in IIT/MBBS coaching centres there are so many breaks for studying. Also there are bullying among children. They beat and hurt each other .
