St. Francis De Sales High School

On your way to Hosur, you must have noticed a group of institutions along the road opposite to Biocon. I had seen the St. Francis de Sales School (SFS High School ) and College and the church nearby all standing massive and silent. It's only a few days back I saw all the students playing on its ground in their sports uniform.

The School is founded by the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales. The State Board schools were started in 1982 and 1983. The ICSE School seems to be new one.

Remark: The building construction for higher classes is going on now.
The reson, I got to know of this school was an applaudable gesture on part of one of the parents of this school. About 60 trucks of garbage had been dumped daily near the school permises. Santhosh Mathew and his wife Sonia initiated action to clear the waste. Hats off to these parents.

Application for DPS admission

Hope most of you might have got the applications for DPS. For those of you yet to get, it will be issued till this weekend, (told over the counter) for 1st to 9th classes.
You can download the application from their site as well. Have to take a DD for Rs.600 for the prospectus.
Anyone who has browsed the site, will tell you the prospectus is a sheer replica with few details of the management added.
Another thing I noted is that DPS East has got its CBSE affiliation only recently. It's only then they have started 9th classes.
Entrance Tests will be around mid-December.
There are around a minimum of 7 sections for a class, so hoping by these calculations 30 per class * 7, you have got about 210 seats. Admission fees of 50K per student * 210, well give it a try!

Academics: For nursey, play way method of teaching. No exams till class 6.Assessment based on project work.
Activities: Art, Music, Sports are included in the curriculum. Yoga classes, adventure clubs, Literary and Maths associations.

Remark: Its good to see a school having all the infra-structure in place, (swimming pool under construction) within two years of starting. They have 700 students at present and a campus are of 10 acres. They have a fleet of 40 buses.
Their website is well informed, than most other 'so called best' schools.

Personally, I have heard the academics is good. One parent I know was very satisfied with the school. But one incident made them change the school. Their child had hurt his leg badly on playing and no intimation was given to the parents. A safety concern made them change schools, but otherwise they found it to be very good.

Having a personal experience with the school, then do tell us about it.

Update: I had earlier written here that more homework is give, This was what my cousin told me. But one other friend told me that for KG only one page is given as homework. Not much outside play for KG, they play mostly inside the building. They had got admissions in February on writing an entrance test. They like the school atmosphere.

Also fees they paid for KG is about 25K. I hope this is useful considering that most of the visitors to this site are enquiring on JSS Public school.
