Candor International School - starting newly

A new international school starting off in South Bangalore is Candor International School. The construction is going on in a 22-acre campus and the school is opening for the 2011 session. The school is being started by a group of USA and UK- based NRI's. They aim to create the first green international school in India, striving for the Leeds Gold certification.

The school is having a selection of two syllabus: IGCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB).

Syllabus: Grades 1 to 5: IB's PYP (Primary Years Program)
For grades 6 to 9: IGCSE
For grades 11 and 12: IB Diploma.

Admission: Rolling admissions - admissions throughout the year.
Admission is in 3 phases as construction progresses, right now till grade 9, starting from June 2011. For admissions to Grade 6 and above, children are required to pass an aptitude test. Test Centers are at Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Dubai, Dhaka, Kolkata, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Sydney and London. The aptitude test will include English, Mathematics and Science.

Second Language options: Spanish, French, German. If more than 5 students of a particular language like Thai, Korean, then they might be offered that language

Activities: Robotic Technology, Music, Dance, Drama, Arts and Sports. Club activities on 3 days of the week include Music, sports, science, literary, craft, hobbies, drama, choreography etc.Oratory is mandatory on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Boarding: Available from grade 5 onwards. Three students to a room, weekend trips, after-school activities, international cuisine, medical help etc.

Christ Academy - For South Bangaloreans

One of the good schools worth considering for your young one is Christ Academy in Begur-Koppa Road. It is one of the ICSE schools coming under CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) of Catholic Church of South India, headquartered in Kerala. They have more than 100 schools and colleges and The Christ Academy has more than 1400 students on a 25 acre campus.

Remark: My neighbour is sending their kids over to Christ Academy and they are very happy with the school, be it academics or activities. I hope to update more details.
